Masking

Is the call of the day for http://challengemehappy.wordpress.com/2012/03/01/challenge-18/ I have used a Crafters Workshop template with texture paste scraped over the top to give it some depth. Then sprayed the paper with Mr Hueys color mist. I love this product as it doesnt buckle the paper. Using a copy of the same photo and Lifting Sonya's idea of framing the subject as she did on my canvas.. Love how this turned out..

The beginning

Of a new month and as I said in my last post I was expecting happy mail..So onwards to explain. Last month Carol http://4carol.blogspot.co.nz/ Suggested a photoswap. 6 of us signed up and all we had to do was send a photo of ourself to the person whose name was drawn, so they could scrap it either on a canvas or a LO. I chose a canvas as I wanted it to be something I could display rather than slammed into an album where noone would see it..Sonya Pickles http://picklespatch-sonya.blogspot.co.nz/was the recipient of my photo, a 7x5 which I thought maybe was a little too big for the project.. But hey this lady is so talented nothing fazes her and I love how she has incorporated the wall art in the background of the photo to fit..I am thrilled to bits with this and will treasure it allways. Thank you so much Sonya you are Awesome!!!

My project was a canvas too and I got to scrap for E, and as she was here at the time I also got to take her photo and this is what I came up with..For those of you that know me, I only sign up for things like this when I know I can give my all and like to complete it way before the time frame.. Its not a race i just like to get things done... Pity the housework doesnt work the same way aye LOL.. I sat up till 2 am doing this and have been waiting for weeks it seems to be able to give it to her..Im thinking now that maybe the reason that February was such a long month for me. I am really excited and pleased to say E has this in her hot little hands and she loves it just as I knew she would..Thanks Carol for the brilliant idea and looking forward to seeing the other girls projects..

Seems like

Its been a busy week but its only Tuesday, and I guess its cause I worked all weekend making these lashings for one of the local Mussell Farms. At 7c plus gst per each im not going to make millions but it fills the gap till I get a real job... Have had 3 interviews in the past 2 weeks but no luck as yet. I need to keep positive on that front as I know it will happen..I have to say I do not like Interviews, any job i have ever had has been through a phone call, saying "I need someone to do this can you"? yeap thats the way its been but time changes so I guess I need to suck it up....

And this awesome LO ( well I think its awesome) of our lil Man, its For Paperchase Sketch Challenge closes tomorrow... February has been a loong month it sems like its gone on forever.. Pleased to say tho that I have completed or should I say ACHIEVE/D a lot. 5 LO's for challenges here and there, and 2 more just for me cos I could fit it in. A set of Atc's for scrapbook dreams, Ohhh And a photo swap organised by Carol which is sounding very exciting and will be the subject of my next post.

Off to town tomorrow and there will be Happy Mail I just know it...

This Lo is about the trip that I won to Adelaide, through the National Heart foundation in 2002. 5 nights for 2 people, cruising the Murray River aboard the Murray Princess, including airfares to and from NZ.. It all seems so long ago. A sketch and a Candid Pic LO

Here are 2 LO's I have just completed for Scrapbook Dreams.. The top one is the sketch challenge which i had to turn around to fit the portrait photo..It is of Blakie on his 4th birthday last August.. He had his own special day with his Nana we baked and iced the chocolate cupcakes together and sat them on the kitset cake stand that i bought at senz last year specially for him. The candle is a musical one, and one that he has become attached to for each birthday. The pirate flags I kept, because I knew I would get aroun tuit one day. There is another pic of him blowing out the candles, it is tucked at the back of the main one, pull the tab and it has some personal journalling written there as well. The 2nd Lo is for the Candid Challenge, I have quite a bit of stuff going on here in this one. James, Blake and "Oscar" the dog. Oscar had to be with the boys everywhere they went. Pretty happy with these especially the birthday one..

Something Different..

My first LO's for 2012.. and for Scrapbook Dreams January Challenges. I had thought I wouldnt have time to do this as I have been so wrapped up in my Altered book. But then last weekend I went to Tapawera with my Daughter and Blakie to the local Agricultural show. Julie was competing with her horse, so that left Blake and I to amuse ourselves.. No problem there as you can see by the pics in the double LO..It was nice to go back to Tap, the show has grown so much since we lived out there over 10 years ago.. The other Lo is through the eyes of a child, the top 2 pics are from Dylan (12) and the bottom 2 from Blake taken with the camera he got at christmas.. I can see we might have to take the camera on our road trip and show him how to work it even tho these are pretty good.. 2 out of a hundy not bad for a little bloke..I love the sock one tooo cute..

Blake and I are off to Amberley on Thursday for 3 nights. We are doing a surprise visit to some young friends down there. The young lady in question boarded with us in her 6th form year way back, so she is part of our family really. Their little fella turns 4 tomorrow so there will be a wee celebration going on Im sure.Her Hubby knows we are coming but she does'nt..I am so Looking forward to seeing them all, as it has been 18 months since we last saw each other..Then we have a lunch date on the sunday before we head home again.. Whoop whoop its gonna be awesome..

Love this altered book project, very time consuming tho and not sure it will have as many pages as Effy's but while I can I will ""Carry On". So much for the figures, they are being hand drawn by most but I found these cuties on clip art and they look so much better than my last effort..I have journalling to do but that wont take long.. The other peeps are doing daily, i think I will keep it simple and just write when I have something specific to say or when I have actually achieve/d something, seeing as"'ACHIEVE'' is my word. There is plenty of space to add notes on each page and then there's the secret pockets too...Some interesting stuff in there all ready. My Book is taking up all my"Me Time", I havnt done any scrapping at all this year and that's sad..

See that wee house in the top pic, we are in the process of buying and it became unconditional today.. Possession date 2nd February...Decided to do this as living in the caravan especially in winter is not the best for Charlie. Last year he was hit hard with the flu and it took a while for him to get over it, He deserves something better. I would like to have a real job too, instead of just the aquaculture work that comes my way intermittently..Poss would be able to be at home safe during the day. Leaving her in the caravan when at work was a definite nono..If this goes to plan we will be able to keep our house here for the time being anyway!!!! Lots of positives going on atm so all good..

My Book of Days

Here I am with Stage 2 & 3 of my book. Pictures are in the wrong order but that doesnt matter. The green one is stage 2 and has an expanding pocket on the left and a secret pocket on the right.. I intend to write a letter about things that happened last year, how they affected me and how I dealt with them, that will go in the expanding one along with any relative momentoes or special photo's... The secret pocket will house My wishes and My hopes for 2012 and any other bits i find along the way.. I am loving playing with paints, inks, stamps and this matte medium, so much better than Modge podge as it dries quicker. Oh and Using up stuff I have had stashed for so long waiting for just that right project. Stage 3 ohhh what a mess I'm not liking that figure thingy it looks sooo Doh but its part of this so I will just get over it for now. The paint squares were made by using a stencil and it sure is not anything like the stencil lol. Oh well Bugger, It goes nice with the pink tho..I kept the cotton from the handsewn pocket rather than snipping it off, makes it look better i feel.

Right Im off, better get the Gst done or I will be in trouble.

One little word

I decided i would like to have a go at the, one little word this year. I have never done anything like this before so I am following Effy Wild at http://wildpreciouslife.com/2011/12/front-inside-cover-122711/ in making an altered book called my Book of days..My chosen word is ACHIEVE. As I move from creating the Front and back cover my confidence is growing.. I have a personal journey going on and hope I can ACHIEVE it this year..I am pleased to be able to show you the first part of my project and hope you all like it...
